Often casting his work from the gallery space itself, Oliver Palmer doubles and inverts those parts of the architecture which demarcate the gallery’s dominion. With their constant threat of collapse, the ephemeral materials he uses contrast with the building’s ‘permanent’ structure. These almost fatalistic works stand at a logical crux where teleological impulses are interrupted and engendered by chaotic desires.
